THE MARBLEHEAD HIGH SCHOOL TIMELINE FOR FRESHMEN
*The registration process for students from private
schools is as follows : Parents need to call the Guidance Dept. at 639-3110
to set up an appointment to register their child. Health records need
to be submitted before your child can be entered. You will also need to
fill out a biographical form in order for your child to be entered into
the computer system.
9TH GRADE
Focus on strong study habits , obtaining good
grades, participating in extra - curricular activites including school based
groups and/or sports, and take a set of courses that are challenging for
you in order to be well prepared for college. In addition, continue to identify
areas that are interesting to you, and explore potential career fields. Also,
remember that all your grades are now a part of your permanent record. Colleges
will see every term grade and the final average grade.
SEPTEMBER
- Check your schedule. Make sure you have
all your academic classes scheduled, including electives and Wellness (PE
& Health).
- If you have a problem with your schedule,
make an appointment with your guidance counselor. You should not make appointments
during a scheduled class; appointments should be made during directed
study blocks, during lunch, or before or after school.
NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, JANUARY
- Schedule an appointment with your guidance
counselor to do a 4 year course plan.
- Guidance Counselors visit Health/Wellness
classes to do Freshmen Seminar.
- The Freshman Seminar includes the following
information :

form
- -- Explain the role of the guidance
counselor
- -- Explain trends in grading
- -- Explain the Incomplete Policy
- -- Explain the sequential courses (math
& world languages)
- -- Review a sample transcript
- -- Explain graduation requirements
- -- Explain Attendance Policy
- -- Explain effects of class cuts on
credits & courses
- -- Encourage school & community
involvment
JANUARY - FEBRUARY
- Mid - Year Schedule Conflicts
MARCH
- Students should be receiving their Course
Selection Sheets for next year.
- Students need to review course selections
with current teachers.
- Students reviews course selections with
parents.
- Parents sign the form and students return
it to the Guidance Dept.
JUNE
- Students have a safe, healthy, happy
summer and remember : the best way to prepare for the SAT test is to read,
read, read :)
