ACTIVITY
Distribution & Discussions of College Applications & Material

Distribution of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for May Administration
Distribution of SAT II application for June administration

RESPONSIBILITY
COUNSELORS will discuss procedures in Guidance Seminars. STUDENTS will file test application observing deadlines. PARENTS will oversee procedure and write check.

APRIL, 2007

ACTIVITY
College Admissions Panel for parents & students.
REPONSIBILITY
COUNSELORS provide panel. PARENTS & STUDENTS attend and participate.

Requesting School Recommendations

STUDENT enters contract with 1 High School teacher.
STUDENT obtains form in Guidance Seminar.
STUDENT meets with Guidance Counselor regarding counselor recommendation.
Guidance Counselor writes for student.

RESPONSIBILITY
COUNSELORS provide recommendation form and explain procedures and reasons for this activity in Guidance Seminars.
Students request teacher recommendation. Teachers sign recommendation form and return it to Guidance before the end of school in June.

MAY - JUNE, 2007

ACTIVITY
Preliminary Selection of Colleges

Discuss criteria and procedure for selecting appropriate list of colleges
Review final selection of courses for grade 12
Discuss CEEB test scores
STUDENT meets with Guidance Counselor

RESPONSIBILITY
COUNSELORS review criteria and procedure with STUDENTS in Guidance Seminars. Use of Peterson's College Search Program and Internet home page for initial list. COUNSELORS ASSIST STUDENTS AND PARENTS by advising.
COUNSELORS review college planning process in Seminar. Answers STUDENT or PARENT questions.

JULY - AUGUST, 2007
ACTIVITY

Read Catalogs
Visit Colleges
Compare colleges, take notes, keep a journal, discuss visits with PARENTS
One or two trial interviews
Discuss financing college with PARENTS

RESPONSIBILITY
STUDENTS & PARENTS follow through.

Refining List of Colleges

Preliminary list of schools refined to those under active consideration
College visitations
College interviews
Request catalogs and applications
Finalize list of colleges
Request High School Transcript

RESPONSIBILITY
STUDENT discusses list with COUNSELOR before end of school year
STUDENT and PARENT plan interviews
STUDENT and PARENT plan college tours
STUDENT follows through
STUDENT requests transcript by completing transcript request card in Guidance Office.
