RE: LIBRARY USE
The High School Library staff would like to remind faculty that we are available to work with you and your classes. We teach units on basic library skills. In addition, we teach about resources and research approaches for particular topics such as Lincoln-Douglas debates, the Jazz Age, etc. We also set aside books on reserve for your classes and research topics for faculty such as recommended historical novels on the Puritan era.
In an effort to ensure that the library is a place for quiet study and research, library staff requests that faculty follow a few guidelines when bringing their classes to the library.
1. Please sign up in advance if you would like to bring a class to the library. Be sure to sign up no later than 7:30 AM on the day of your requested visit. We are unable to accommodate requests after that time. Due to noise and space, we can not accommodate more than 2 classes in the library at any one time. If you would like the library staff to present strategies and materials for your class, please give us as much notice as possible.
2. Please accompany and remain with your class. Students frequently have questions about their research or assignments that only you can answer.
3. When the class is in the library, please have them abide by general library rules. Therefore, please remind students that they may not eat or drink, or go to their lockers or the cafeteria. Also, it would be appreciated if they could return any materials they use to their class cart or to the circulation desk so that we can reshelve them.
4. Substitutes should bring classes to the library only when it is so specified in the daily lesson plan and has been reserved in advance by the teacher.
Thank you.
