We are off to a great start of the school year. Please remember to sign your child’s assignment notebook each night.

20-Minute Learning Connection by Kaplan

This book has great ideas to assist your child’s school performance using engaging activities that aligns with the Massachusetts Frameworks. If you are having trouble locating a copy, you can borrow it from our principal, Mrs. Moore.

Student Information:

 

Remember to read each night for 20 minute and identify new vocabulary words. Ask a parent or grandparent to initial that you completed your reading in their presences. Reading is a skill that needs to be developed with practice!

 

Remember to complete your spelling homework each night.

Hints for Homework Help

Arrange for Time, Space, and Materials

Tips For Parents 

1.                              Arrange a space to complete your homework that is free from distractions.

§                                 Does it have good lighting?

§                                 Is there anything nearby that may distract you?

§                                 Are all of your materials nearby?

2.                              Materials to have on hand:

§                                 assignment notebook

§                                 white-lined paper

§                                 pencils and pens

§                                 calculator and ruler

§                                 dictionary or spell checker

3.                              Use your assignment notebook planner to arrange for time in you schedule to complete homework.

4.                              Have a healthy snack before starting.

5.                              Plan the order you will complete your assignments.

6.                              Take a break after 45 minutes of concentrated working.

7.                              Have a parent or guardian review your homework with you

8.                              Place your completed homework in your backpack and keep it in the same location every day.

1. Be available to help your child.

2. Look at your child's assignment notebook and compare it with their completed homework.

3. Don't just ask if your child has done their homework ask to see what the completed homework.

4. Ask you child to explain their homework assignments.

5. Make time daily to discuss school with your child.
